This executable, named "victim", was found in the deep corners of the internet. It contained a severely corrupted maze game. Though there are many, only one level of this game was able to be shared, as the other half-corrupted levels were not safe for viewing and caused multiple seizures to the people who recovered them. Almost 20 audio files were also removed, as most were too disturbing for listening, including a 32-minute-long file of several children screaming.

Player discretion is advised.

Hello, I have found a secret ending to the game (so I think) based by the fact that I have found nothing on the internet regarding the QR code, the youtube link, the spectogram, etc, just people crashing.

i just finished the game after finding the code. Has anyone went past the blue walls and the ,,He will save me,, image?

Hello, Alexander Wiseman. I really liked this game of yours, so, i want to make a remastered version of victim.exe, with more levels and MUCH scarier experience.

Can you tell me, on what platform you made this game, and how did you make those scary PNG faces? And, do you even want a remake of victim.exe? Sorry for unexpected question, and, thank you!

This is Unsettling.

As a horror fan i really love this game. This is the scariest horror game i've played in 2025 probably. I love the atmosphere and sound.

The things i didn't like:

1 - Jumpscares (jumpscares aren't scary)

2 - walking simulator

3 - confusing map

I also love the environment!

just tried playing but i'm having some weird graphical glitches

Sorry for the late response. For some reason the engine I use sometimes has difficulty on some people's devices. Maybe try another browser?

Awesome game
You are my inspiration to get into making horror games
but i really do need some guidance

how did u learn all the technical stuff(this question might sound repeated but all i meant was not falling into the tutorial hell and actually making something)

i have great game ideas and all but i cant seem to tackle the technical stuff such as programming

your insight would help a lot sir!

(+1)

I'm self taught, so just learning from practice and reading documentation was my best bet. Construct 3 is easy for beginners but a little on the expensive side, and Unity is more complicated but 10x more powerful and free. Audacity is good for sound, if you can't make your own stuff than I suggest you use stock sounds. And for visuals if you are doing 3D then model with Blender, it's easy and there are literally tutorials for everything in it. If 2D then use gimp or something like that to make some stuff. I use IbisPaintX because it is just easy and I can do crap on my phone which is super efficient, along with a payed subscription to Pixlr, cheap and also efficient.

Hope this helped!

Well your tip definitely helped cuz I see the docs are written in a very nice way

Btw i use godot(cuz that's the only Engine I understand a bit)

Tutorials nowadays are really vague and don't get to the core of how a game actually works. Some of them do but they turn out to be super complicated for a complete beginner. I believe it's better to learn by making games so I think I'll just read the docs learn

I just wanted to know whether it's better to start with 2d or 3d

And is it ok as a beginner to learn by recreating your game 'Fear Assessment'?(I liked the style of the game)

How difficult u think it is? Or should I try recreating something else

Thank You!

2D is definitely easier, and I would not mind at all of a recreation. I made the demo in about a month with a lot of slacking, so it will probably be easy lol

Thx a lot sir

One last question and I'll stop bothering

How do u create such assets??

It's too scary to look at tbh ngl

How do u morph it and all the images u use for jumpscares?

Thanks

For this game it is just a bunch of my face that I messed around with lol. Photomosh has a webcam feature and I just tweak the settings a lot. For some assets it can work just to take pictures and Photoshop them, you don't have to necessarily be an artist.

hey i am a big fan i been trying to make a analog horror vid and i really like your content if you can give some tips it would be nice

Yeah, make sure not to fall into analog horror cliches. Don't copy others, especially the content titans  of Kane Pixels and Alex Kister.  For sounds I recommend some good sounds from freesound.org (make sure to check the copyright) and for music or old footage/inspiration you can look through the Internet Archive. Photo editing using something like Pixlr or Photomosh. Sound edit with Audacity and video edit with something like DaVinci Resolve or Filmora. Loud does not equal scary nor does constantly showing gorey things. Practice makes perfect and you will not nail it the first time. I am a growing horror creator myself and I have had my share of mistakes when it comes to scaring people. Look for the reason to why you are scaring people. The psychological aspect of analog horror can play a huge role in diverting from the same slop that has been being made. I suggest watching Skinamarink or anything else made by Kyle Edward Ball as he is a legend in making you think and ponder what you are watching and the symbolism. Kris Straub in Candle Cove and Local 58 also give some good insight into the imagery that can make you frightened as well as the narrative you are portraying being told through the analog medium. Please do not slap vhs lines and static noise just to anything...Give it reason and include it in the story. Do not make another informational slop fest. When I watch any smaller analog horror series it is all the "if you see a person identical to you or someone you know run!" In a text to speech voice, my eyes roll, think to the greats and what made people love them. Think of other horror mediums, Mandela Catalogue and the Boiled One Phenomenon is based in religious horror, vita carnis and greylock in body horror,  Gemini home entertainment in cosmic horror, and so on. Originality is key, do your research and don't be afraid to do something different. Again, it takes practice, but with a good narrative and atmosphere with an original concept the rest will make itself.  You are good to paste the link to the video and I would be more than happy to critique it. Hope this helped, and good luck!

Thanks man, you are a really talented individual. I hope you stay blessed. I think i have a good idea but idk if i am gonna nail it

(4 edits)

I kinda want to talk to you and try to get help from someone experienced because there isnt alot of behind the scenes of popular analog horror vids which can help me to make my own cause i have no experience of any editing software or any creative work also cause i have no idea if my ideas are actually scary or no. The character or the entire idea came to me and i had friends telling me that your character is similar to other characters from other series so i am trying to make it a original i have the story ready but i have some idea of how will the video be like but i am still thinking about the scares

(1 edit)

It would be great if i have someone to help me along the way

Again, researching other analog horrors is important, Alex Kister (the maker of the Mandela Catalogue) made director's commentary on a lot of his videos, it might be worth checking out. Find an art medium. Claymation, live action, cartoon, etc, and then look at how you could make those in an editing software, then look up how to add the effects and stuff.

Man, I'm lost

There are several sequence/game-breaking glitches, please see 14:45 and 20:55. I thought It was normal since it was supposed to be corrupted and I'm making progress until I glitched for the second time, I restarted the game eventually since I can't find a way back to the level.

Here's another glitched wall from my third playthrough.

Despite the glitches and the short runtime, there are intense moments throughout the game and I had fun decoding secrets. Looking forward to Cult of Flies!

Thanks for letting me know! I'll be sure to fix them

SOME SPOILERS FOR THE GAME!!!

Okay, very Sad Satan vibes, which is neither a compliment or an insult.

I was actually creeped out by it for a while. I played the browser version first, and couldn't find an exit (which I don't know if it was my fault or not) so i quit and downloaded the .zip file.

For future reference, don't make .txt files easy to find. I combed through all of the game files and everything to find some secrets, and I was also a little disappointed the coded message was in Base64.

Anyways, as I said before, I was creeped out but then I was actually annoyed. I'm not sure if only using the arrows was a conscious decision or just a lack of experience in game development, but it gets old fast. There are actually plenty of people who have shared their first-person controller files, so it would be worth checking them out and keeping people in the experience you're building!

Okay, so I'm walking around and the use of the odd blinking and high-pitched noises was actually quite scary... The first few times. In fact, when I launched the .exe file, I was already used to it. That said, the random 'ping' that occurred caught me by surprise, and then the 'whoosh'? I actually had chills for a minute after, because it was so unexpected (and because my headphones were turned up).

And then the game ended on a jump-scare. I'm not sure if there is more to this game, I know I could have went right rather than left, but in the end it just closed and I felt a little disappointed.

Overall, it was a solid experience, with a little too much story outside of the game rather than in. The reason I compare it to Sad Satan is because the game tries to build mystique too hard through being edgy rather than actually mysterious. My advice would be to check out some of the older .exe experiences that have cropped up over the years, as well as taking a look at games like Doki Doki Literature Club and the more recent, KinitoPET. Both games build mystique through hiding it and revealing they're true nature slowly. As a player, you know they're supposed to be horror games and when nothing happens, that REALLY builds tension.

Anyways, I really hope to see more of this game or more of your work! You definitely just earnt a follow right now!

(+3)

Just went to check out your page, and of course Sad Satan is at the top ;D It's like I can read people like books

(+3)

Thank you for your feedback! I would like to let you know that I had made this in a little under 5 hours and it was a side project. I was very inspired by .exe games, like Lost boy.exe, station.exe, etc. I do go a little overboard in lore than gameplay at some points. I will definitely keep updating this game and hopefully expand it a little. Again, thank you very much for the criticism, I'm glad you aren't close minded like some critics are lol

(+3)(-1)

Oh some of them can be a genuine pain in the arse, I've tried game development myself, and it is difficult, and then you ask some of them and all they've ever done is play them. With the new context, I can tell you I wouldn't be able to make half that in 5 hours, so well done!

SPOILERS FOR THE GAME!!!

UPDATE 2

Glad to see that my critique was used! That includes the game files hiding some mysterious images, using Hexadecimal rather than Base64 and so on...

Furthermore, there are some new additions to those hidden files I see, particularly 14.jpg. Really adding to the lore of victim 14 (even if I still don't know what it all means)

However, as mentioned before, there is still no, slowly-building tension within the game. Subversion of expectations and an uncanny valley feeling is really where it should be at, whereas at the moment its a single level with not much substance. Although this may be difficult, adding a main menu can really open up a lot of options, taking DDLC as an example, where it can be changed and malformed into something much scarier.

Anyways, I'm glad you're still working on this project, and I can't wait to see more of Victim 14!
